The world has become darker. Wars, corruption, disease, disasters of many kinds, all compete for our attention. Or maybe it just seems that way. Maybe it’s just the media that make things seem so dismal. In any case, we need to fight back.
Be Not Afraid: Reflections on the world, the news and the spiritual battles we face builds on the novel Holy War, released in 2023 and early 2024, along with the weekly commentary Between the Lines that accompanied it. (Links to Holy War and Between the Lines are posted at the top of the page.) Be Not Afraid is an effort to define the need today in its mental and spiritual dimensions as we deal with a world seemingly out of control, and to explore what we can do to change things.
Darkness at its root is fear, so the first step is to learn what it means to Be Not Afraid. As the Bible says, “Perfect love casts out fear,” so that’s the direction I believe we need to go, toward finding and proving the love that is so powerful.
Until further notice, commentary will be posted every Wednesday. Subscriptions are free for now, but paid subscriptions will be gratefully received, as the writing takes quite a bit of time. Those who subscribed to Holy War are automatically subscribed to Be Not Afraid.
Comments are open to all readers.
Enjoy.
